God … hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, … who … sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high” — Hebrews 1:1-3

God has always been pure spirit (John 4:24) and though we may not realize it, today, before Jesus the idea a human could sit on God’s throne was just not thinkable.

Prophets looking into heaven were amazed at what they saw,

And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it. — Ezekiel 1:26

No one at the time thought it could be literal yet when Jesus purged our sin he bodily came out of the tomb, bodily ascended to heaven, and bodily sits on God’s throne next to Majesty.

What’s he doing there? Lots!

The Bible says he is praying for God’s mercy and grace on this dying world. It’s been noticed the wrath of God seldom falls like it did before Christ. That’s possibly because Jesus is there praying for mercy and grace — always referring to his sacrifice on the cross.

“He’s there from now to eternity to save everyone who comes to God through him, always on the job to speak up for them.” — Hebrews 4:25 (Message)

He’s preparing a place to receive us, his followers,

“I’m on my way to get a room ready for you. And if I’m on my way to get your room ready, I’ll come back and get you so you can live where I live.” — John 14:3-4 (Message)

He’s preparing us for his new world government.

“And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.” — Revelation 11:15

We are his now and have his ear, the ear of God. What a privilidge.

Gospel – Like a Cake Mix!

“[B]ut the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.” – Hebrews 4:2b

I’m no cook, but I do know that just putting dry cake mix in the oven doesn’t work – Something has to be added to make it stick together and become an actual cake!

The Gospel is like that,  Faith is required to make it hold together in a person’s life and become a blessing.

Where does the faith come from? God, gives faith for the asking.

>His Terms and Timing – Song 1:04

“Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers; we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee.” – Song 1:4 (KJV)

Our attraction to Jesus is the response to Him drawing us to Himself.

The wind is invisible so how do we know when it’s blowing? We feel it on our exposed skin. We don’t make up the feeling, we recognize it. Likewise we don’t just decide to go to God, He draws and we respond.

That “twinge” in our conscience to, initially, give our lives to Christ is Him calling us to Himself. That periodic desire to stop what we are doing, get alone and pray is, likewise, God calling us to Himself.

God’s gift of “rest”, or inner peace, is a limited time offer in that we must respond when He offers or miss out.

…he limiteth a certain day…Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.” (Hebrews 4:7) (KJV)

Don’t think you can respond tomorrow, when it’s more convenient, if you feel His heart tug today! Go when He calls!

It’s when we recognize this and go to Him when we feel that pull to prayer that it is the sweetest. Sure, we can ask to be called; that, too, is initiated by Him. Sometimes we are like Moses who went up to a Mountain and waited six days, alone, until God call him closer.

If we go, and sometimes even wait, the reward is great!
