Extraordinary Becoming The Ordinary

The children of Israel also wept … We remember the fish, … the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic: but now … there is nothing at all save this manna” — Numbers 11:4-6 (NASB)

God provided a miracle — food for 600 thousand people in a harsh environment. He kept their clothes from wearing out, personally guided them with a cloud by day and flame by night.

Everything God did for them was extraordinary yet instead of being grateful they complained, “We don’t have anything to eat but this manna!!

I’ve never seen the things they saw, how could they treat something so extraordinary as so ordinary, mundane, even loathed?

They took their eyes off their God and their future. Bad News!! When we do that life turns sour!

Don’t always be asking, “Where are the good old days?” Wise folks don’t ask questions like that. – Ecclesiastes 7:10 (Message Bible)

We have a wonderful future, an enduring hope, a kind savior.

Let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; – Hebrews 12:1b-2a

Keeping Jesus and our future in focus keeps us living in the wonder of his grace.

Christ — Seated King

God … hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, … who … sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high” — Hebrews 1:1-3

God has always been pure spirit (John 4:24) and though we may not realize it, today, before Jesus the idea a human could sit on God’s throne was just not thinkable.

Prophets looking into heaven were amazed at what they saw,

And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it. — Ezekiel 1:26

No one at the time thought it could be literal yet when Jesus purged our sin he bodily came out of the tomb, bodily ascended to heaven, and bodily sits on God’s throne next to Majesty.

What’s he doing there? Lots!

The Bible says he is praying for God’s mercy and grace on this dying world. It’s been noticed the wrath of God seldom falls like it did before Christ. That’s possibly because Jesus is there praying for mercy and grace — always referring to his sacrifice on the cross.

“He’s there from now to eternity to save everyone who comes to God through him, always on the job to speak up for them.” — Hebrews 4:25 (Message)

He’s preparing a place to receive us, his followers,

“I’m on my way to get a room ready for you. And if I’m on my way to get your room ready, I’ll come back and get you so you can live where I live.” — John 14:3-4 (Message)

He’s preparing us for his new world government.

“And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.” — Revelation 11:15

We are his now and have his ear, the ear of God. What a privilidge.

Christ — By Himself

[God’s] Son … by himself purged our sins” — Hebrews 1:3b

It couldn’t be the Father or the Holy Spirit, or even an angel, it had to be Christ alone and here’s why — God submitted this earth to mankind’s rule.

Remember Genesis?

“God spoke: “Let us make human beings in our image, make them reflecting our nature So they can be responsible for the fish in the sea, the birds in the air, the cattle, And, yes, Earth itself, and every animal that moves on the face of Earth.” — Genesis 1:26-28 (The Message)

God’s plan required a human to rule. But the humans in charge became hopelessly dominated by sinister forces.

God’s unbelievable answer? Become human and take back the authority as a human. Imagine the sacrifice and the Love — voluntarily becoming human, not for a short time but for all eternity forward. Jesus bodily raised from the dead. Though his body has changed (as ours shall – 1John 3:2), it is still human and shall be human forever.

Christ legitimately reigns in the system he created.

“Here it is in a nutshell: Just as one person did it wrong and got us in all this trouble with sin and death, another person did it right and got us out of it. But more than just getting us out of trouble, he got us into life! One man said no to God and put many people in the wrong; one man said yes to God and put many in the right.” — Romans 5:18-19 (The Message Bible)

One more:

“Since the children are made of flesh and blood, it’s logical that the Savior took on flesh and blood in order to rescue them by his death. By embracing death, taking it into himself, he destroyed the Devil’s hold on death and freed all who cower through life, scared to death of death. — Hebrews 2:14-15 (The Message Bible)

That took guts! and Love!
