“Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ…in whom … ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise” – Ephesians 1:2

Paul was not confused about the Holy Trinity. He held the oneness of God with the diversity of persons without complaining or confusion.

Being both one and more at the same time is and every day occurence – in ourselves. Who do you argue with when your conscience tells you something? Or, how do you know your body is hungry? Do you give it everything it wants or tell it to pipe down?

This is spirit, soul, and body 1 interacting normally. My conscience is its own person, my mind is its own person, my body is its own person – each acting independently, yet still only one of me.

Which one rules? Well, in my imperfection, sometimes its my body, sometimes my will, sometimes my conscience. I accomplish great things when my conscience confirms what my mind envisions and my body obeys.

God acts together. There is no struggle for attention or dominance. The Father loves, plans, feels and directs. The Son acts in voluntary obedience, and the Spirit communicates God’s motives, intentions, and joy.

It is God, our Father, who planned the way of Salvation. It is God, the Son, who of his own free will chose to obey, even to the cross. It is the Holy Spirit who gives us a taste of heaven and tells us God’s true intentions and motives.

“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. – 1st Corinthians 12:27

God works through symbols – a piece of bread, a drop of oil, some sprinkled water, but it is the reality which is holy, the symbol is only a poor representation.

We who have placed our faith in Christ are, individually, a part his body and have a part in touching one another with and for Christ. The gifts of the Holy Spirit work in that endeavor, helping us do our part.

For this is what the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’ – Acts 13:47

Paul took a scripture from Isaiah 49:6 which clearly referred to the work of Christ, and He  proclaimed it was God’s calling to him, personally!

Can we do that? Yes!

Paul knew that those joined to Christ by faith are part of Christ in actuality.1

What belongs to us also now belongs Christ – our sins, griefs, shortcomings.2  Jesus embraced them and took them to his cross.  Likewise, what belongs to Christ is now ours3 – his payment for our sins, his resurrection, his fellowship with the Father, his anointing with the Holy Spirit, his seat on the throne.  This even includes his call to ministry.  Christ now lives his life through us (though not exclusively through any one of us); not just for our benefit but for those he came to save.4
