Pharaoh said, “Lazy, that’s what you are—lazy! That is why you keep saying, ‘Let us go and sacrifice to the LORD.’ Now get to work. You will not be given any straw, yet you must produce your full quota of bricks.” … Moses returned to the LORD and said, “Why, Lord, why have you brought trouble on this people? Is this why you sent me? – Exodus 5:17,22 (NIV)

God sends Moses to demand release and what does Pharaoh do? He makes the Hebrew’s lives harder – bricks without straw!

Sometimes deliverance begins with things getting worse – quit then and deliverance never happens!

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” – Galatians 6:9

Prayer: Father, by your help I shall not lose heart nor take “No!” as the answer to my freedom! I shall not allow an apparent setback derail my confidence in you! Amen.

Sound Bite: Freedom seldom begins easily

Lap time

[T]he LORD came down in a pillar of cloud … and summoned Aaron and Miriam …. he said, “Listen to my words: “When there is a prophet among you, I, the LORD, reveal myself to them in visions, I speak to them in dreams. But this is not true of my servant Moses; … With him I speak face to face…” – Numbers 12:5b-8a (NIV)

Clearly, God had a different relationship with Moses than with the “prophets” of that day. We see that difference also in the lives of Noah, Enoch, Abraham, Moses, Daniel, even Job — throughout history God chooses with whom to have a closer relationship.

We, too, can have that closer walk – paid for by Christ and brought to us by the Holy Spirit!

[T]he Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ – Romans 8:15b-17a

Dreams and visions are great but why settle for anything less than lap time?

King Herod … had James, the brother of John, put to death by the sword. – Acts 12:1b-2a

James was one of the three (Peter, James, John) disciples in Jesus’ inner circle, but shortly after the work began he was eliminated, having made little known impact. The Letter of James in the Bible is thought to be from Jesus’ brother, not John’s

Jesus had to know this ahead of time, so why invest the time in the disciple James?

I think this points to the fact there is a bigger picture to our purpose than what we can accomplish in this life. We have eternity to serve Christ.

Jesus said to them, You can be sure that when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne in the New Age, then you twelve followers of mine will also sit on thrones, to rule the twelve tribes of Israel. – Matthew 19:28

They had a bigger purpose, and so do we.

Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? … we shall judge angels” – 1st Corinthians 6:2-3

Prayer:Thank you, Jesus, for showing me my purpose is more than what I can accomplish for you here. Help me to live with the bigger picture in mind.

Sound Bite: I have a bigger purpose than right here right now.
